How to Easily Translate the Content of Email Messages in the Gmail Application

Teuku.net - The Gmail app already comes with a built-in translation feature that allows users to easily translate emails into more than 100 languages directly from within the app.

Previously, this feature could only be used on the web version of Gmail. This new feature is now available on Android and iOS devices.

How to Easily Translate the Content of Email Messages in the Gmail Application

Google stated in a blog post, "For years, our users have easily translated emails in the web version of Gmail into more than 100 languages. Starting today, we're proud to announce native translation integration in the Gmail mobile app that lets you communicate seamlessly in multiple languages."

This feature is intended to help users. It's especially useful if you receive an email in a language you don't understand, or if you want to read an email in its original language but don't know the language.

How to Translate Email in the Gmail App

  1. Open the Gmail app and open the one you want to translate.
  2. Tap the three dots in the top right corner of the email. Select "Translate".
  3. Select the language you want to translate the email.
  4. The email will be translated and displayed in the new language.
  5. If you close the translation option, it will reappear when the app detects that the email content is different from the language you set.
  6. You can also turn off the Translation banner. To turn off the Translate banner for a specific language, simply accept the "Don't translate [language] again" warning that appears when you close the banner.

There are a few additional things to keep in mind when using the new Gmail translation feature.

  1. The translation functionality is currently still in beta phase, meaning there may be occasional errors in the translated content.
  2. Keep in mind that translations may not be completely accurate, especially for technical or legal documents that require precise linguistic understanding.
  3. This feature only allows you to translate one email at a time. If you have multiple emails in foreign languages, you will need to translate them individually.
  4. This feature will gradually become available to users. If you don't see this feature in your Gmail app, update the app or wait a few weeks.
